This year, we’re celebrating five years of Fleur Studios.
Back in 2021, the brand began when Wes and I were furnishing our own home and couldn’t find pieces that felt timeless yet unique, thoughtfully made and still attainable. So, we decided to create them ourselves. At the time, we had no idea if it would work. We just cared deeply about design and gave it a go.
Five years later, that part hasn’t changed. We still pour so much heart into every piece: the forms, the materials, the finish, and the details you notice over time. What has been most meaningful, though, is seeing Fleur become part of your homes. In many ways, that has been the greatest encouragement of all.
To mark five years of Fleur Studios, we sat down to reflect on where it all began, what has shaped the brand, and where we’re headed next.
Here are five questions for five years.
- Pip
How did Fleur Studios begin?
The idea came from when we were building our own home and everything we loved was way over budget, or the details and design just weren’t there. We just thought, why doesn’t this exist? That’s where it all started.
- Wes
Wes comes from a design background, so he designed and handmade our very first tiled coffee table in the garage. That was the beginning of everything for us. And it wasn’t long after that he also designed the Cookie Side Table, which is now one of our most iconic pieces.
- Pip
What is the biggest mistake you’ve made?
We made a lot in our first year, but the biggest one was probably our packaging. We were getting asked to send Cookies all over the world and we just had no idea how to get them there safely. We got an order one day for some people that wanted Cookies to LA, and we said yes to it and every single one broke. That wasn’t fun.
- Wes
What's your favourite piece you've made?
It’s so hard to choose, but it’d have to be the Cookie Side Table, just because it’s been with us since day one. When I designed this piece, I really had no idea of the magnitude it would have on our brand. It’s sculptural and functional, and it works in so many spaces - it’s just a signature for us.
- Wes
What's one moment that changed everything?
A turning point for the brand was when we decided to stop making tiled furniture and start working with new materials. A lot of people questioned us at the time and the choices we were making. We took nearly a year off to design and develop the new collection, which was really nerve-wracking, but it really helped push the brand into its next phase. I think it’s something we both wish we’d done sooner.
- Pip
What's the vision for the next five years?
We have a lot of goals. Things like opening a flagship store, expanding into new categories, and growing our team - but we really want to make sure we take our time with it so that we do it right.
- Pip
More than anything, we want Fleur to be the brand you go to when you’re looking for great design. Pieces you can mix together in your own space to make it feel like you.
- Wes
