GEORGIA LA FONTAINE

TASTEMAKER SERIES

Talk us through a typical day in the life of Georgia La Fontaine.

A typical day for me genuinely looks different every day, which is something I love. From Monday to Friday I’m a lawyer, and on Saturdays I teach one class (of pilates) and often just enjoy my rituals over the weekend and spending time with friends and family.

I always start my day early (with an alarm, because sadly I’m not one of those people who can wake up naturally.. that would be the ultimate goal!) Mornings are my sacred time. I’m most focused and uninterrupted, so I pack in as much as I can before the workday begins. My routine usually starts with a green concoction, my physio for my lungs and red light therapy which really supports my cystic fibrosis. I often practice yoga at 6am followed by a morning run. I never view movement or healthy habits as “hard work” as it’s simply part of my lifestyle and puts me at ease throughout my day.

After that, I take my dog for a walk in the park and then get dressed. In order to be on time and organised, I pack my bag the night before and lay out what outfit I intend to wear the next day. I am lucky to drive into the office and normally work from 9am to 5pm (then sometimes additional hours at home if needed). After work my evenings vary, sometimes I’ll head to an event, other times I’ll unwind in the sauna or go for an evening walk with my partner and our dog.

I really value quiet time at home and we’re both early to bed people so we can make the most of our mornings.

You have incredible personal style. What’s a style principle you live by?

Thank you, that’s so kind! My principle for pulling an outfit together is simple: I always start with the shoes. They completely dictate the tone of an outfit. Whether it’s ballet flats, sneakers, or heels, I build everything around that choice.

Comfort and confidence are nonnegotiables for me, so I love mixing structure with ease; maybe tailored trousers with a soft knit, or a simple dress paired with bold accessories. I’m drawn to neutral tones and timeless silhouettes, but I also love adding a subtle twist through texture or detail. The goal is to feel effortless yet considered.

You recently got married (huge congrats!). Do you see any alignment between your wedding style and your interior style?

Thank you so much, we had the most incredible time celebrating! There’s definitely a strong alignment between our wedding style and how I approach interiors. Both are minimal yet timeless, with a focus on quality materials, subtle texture, and a sense of calm. I’ve always believed that simplicity can be so powerful when it’s done intentionally. Our wedding reflected that through soft neutral tones, natural elements, and an understated elegance that felt authentically us. That same philosophy runs through our home: we prefer to create spaces and moments that feel warm, effortless, and enduring.

You recently moved into your new space. How have you made your house feel like home?

Yes, it’s been such a special chapter. My partner and I were lucky enough to design and build a space that truly feels like us. From the beginning we wanted our home to be calm, intentional, and built around pieces we’ll love for years. We’ve been really mindful about curating quality items rather than filling the space all at once. The lead times on furniture can definitely test your patience, but it’s been so rewarding to see it all come together slowly. Every corner tells a bit of our story, and watching it evolve has made it feel more and more like home.

Must-have pieces from our collection?

There are honestly so many pieces I love from your collection, but the side tables stand out. They’re so multifunctional, perfect as bedside tables or in the living room. I love that they add visual depth without cluttering a space and are a great conversational piece for anyone in their home. You can keep your overall style minimal but still introduce a bit of colour, warmth, and personality through them. It’s that perfect balance of form and function.

Melbourne

Local Guide

Coffee spot:
I don’t drink coffee (never have!) but I’m a huge matcha lover. The best matcha in the city has to be at Hikari.
That said I often make my own matcha at home as it’s one of my favourite rituals and a moment of calm before the day starts.

Bar with the best mood:
Albert’s Wine Bar is one of my all-time favourites. It’s relaxed and has an atmosphere that’s always warm and inviting. There’s just something about it that makes it the perfect place to meet your girlfriends.

Go-to dinner spot:
Gimlet; always has been, always will be. It’s classic Melbourne. Everything about it feels special.
