Our Guide to Timber
Timber's beauty lies in its character. Being a natural material, every cut carries its own grain, tone and detail - qualities that can't be manufactured or replicated, so no two pieces are the same.
Our American Walnut is loved for its deep, lustrous colour and refined mid-century feel, while our American Oak brings a relaxed warmth that grounds a space. Whether it be in your home, or someplace else, the natural beauty of timber adds personality and a quiet sense of luxury to any room.
As a living material, timber will continue to characterise over time - responding to its environment where small splits, cracks or fine lines may appear, particularly at joins, as the timber expands and contracts with changing conditions. It's these qualities that we love and make it such a beautiful material to have in our homes.
Introducing
Our Timber Collection
Sourced from North America, American Walnut is a hardwood with deep, lustrous tones and a softly rounded grain. Refined and grounded, it has long been a signature of mid-century design, bringing warmth and considered depth to an interior.
Sourced from North America, American Oak is a fine-grained hardwood in blonde and honey tones, admired for the soft detail of its grain. Relaxed and enduringly versatile, it brings a soft, lived-in warmth that sits comfortably across a wide range of homes.
Sourcing
Our Walnut, Oak and Burl are sustainably grown and harvested across North America, certified by both FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification). It's something we feel strongly about. Choosing certified timbers means each piece is made with care for both the home it will live in and the forests it came from.
Every design in the collection is made from solid timber rather than veneer. The process is slower and more considered, and it's what allows us to shape the soft curves, sculptural silhouettes and exposed end-grain that bring each piece to life. It also means a piece can be sanded back and refreshed years from now, giving it a life well beyond its first home.
Boards are matched by hand so the grain flows naturally across each piece, then sanded and finished by hand to bring out the depth and warmth signature to the timber.
How to Care for Timber Furniture
When cared for correctly, timber furniture can be an heirloom that lasts decades.
Timber is a living material, quietly responding to its environment over time. Small splits, fine lines or slight movement at the joins may develop, adding to its character with use. Keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from fireplaces, air-conditioning vents and underfloor heating will help to minimise this kind of natural movement.
For day to day care, a soft damp cloth is all that's needed, with coasters and placemats for anything hot or oily. A fresh coat of clear matte hard wax once a year will keep the finish looking its best. Read our full timber care guide here.
Styling our designs
A natural material, timber brings warmth and character to a space. The beauty sits in the material itself, in the grain, the tones, and the way it shifts subtly with the light through the day. Left bare, our pieces shine through no matter how big or small. Whether it's a sculptural coffee table or a quiet decor piece, timber works just as well dressed up as it does dressed down.
Let it shine
Timber has a timeless presence. The richness of the grain, the warmth of the tones and our considered silhouettes are characteristics that speak softly on their own. Let the material lead.
Dress it up
Our pieces are perfect when styled with simple elements, especially in smaller spaces like apartments. The warmth of the material invites a softer hand when styling, with pieces that add texture rather than compete with the grain.
Mixed Materiality
Timber is the grounding element in a layered room. Its warmth softens the cool edge of stainless steel and anchors the polish of marble. Our Naomi collection was designed with this idea in mind, bringing Walnut and Oak together with marble to achieve this feeling of balance.
