Meet the Balzac side table, a design inspired by our travels and a nod to our origins as a brand. After a visit to the Hotel Balzac in Paris with its warm, layered interiors and signature marble checkerboard floor, we felt called to bring these elements to furniture. The intricate pattern is made with pieces of Cream Travertine and Rosa Levanto in leather finish, a new finish to our collection with subtle texture that highlights the nuanced marble colours.

With a pedestal base, the volume of the table is elevated off the ground, drawing the eye up and bringing a lightness to the design whilst celebrating the beauty of the natural stone checkerboard pattern. Blurring the lines between art and furniture, the Balzac side table brings a sense of individuality and elegance to interiors with its contemporary silhouette and bold materiality.

Adding character to a living room, the Balzac side table is also perfect as a bedside with the versatile rectangle shape that can be rotated to suit the space.

Material

Made with Rosa Levanto and Cream Travertine, the checkerboard pattern takes time and precision to achieve. The marble has a leather finish, naturally low sheen with subtle texture that highlights the nuanced veining. In comparison to polished or honed, which is smooth to touch with a high shine or satin finish.

Hand selecting our Cream Travertine direct from Italian quarries, it features a balance of soft cream, taupe and light tan tones. Travertine is a beautiful neutral cream with just the right amount of depth to it, bringing a relaxed elegance to any space.

Rosa Levanto is a deep burgundy marble with striking white veining. Luxurious and bold, this dark marble is surprisingly versatile and pairs beautifully with natural materials.
